Mother’s Day Gifts Given and Received With Love
Mother’s Day is a day we set aside each year to give a gift of appreciation and to say thank you to our mothers for always being there, always taking our side, always saying the comforting or encouraging words we need, holding our hands and our hearts throughout life.
My own mother is one of a kind and very special to me. I am really glad we celebrate Mother’s Day so we can focus on choosing the right gift for our mothers. A gift that will convey our love and shows a small measure of how much they mean to us.
As a mother, some of my greatest treasures in life have been given to me on Mother’s Day. I cherish the handmade cards, the thoughtfully selected gifts and the precious memories of the decades of fun we have shared.

Mother’s Day Gifts for Relaxing
Gift Bag of Relaxation Goodies!
My daughter has mastered the art of giving gifts for relaxation.
Since I stay cold all of the time, each year she gives me new flannel pajamas. Not just any flannel pjs, she gives me stylish flannel pajamas with cute little objects or animals featured on them and they have a pocket for my cell phone.
She also gives me a new book. Since I love to read, this is truly a perfect gift for me. I tend to prefer romance novels. Even though that is not her preferred genre, she somehow always manages to find a great book for me that I haven’t already read.
To top off my relaxation Mother’s Day gift, she gives me licorice tea. Before her first gift of licorice tea, I didn’t even know I liked licorice tea! Now, I look forward to having my stock replenished each year. She has me so spoiled that she even gives me a supply for my birthday and Christmas.
Last year she did the cutest thing and I simply must share her idea. Since she is an adult, I honestly thought handmade cards were a thing of our past, however, she made me a card, purchased a zip-up coin purse pet and filled it with packets of licorice tea which she included with my new flannel pajamas.
Ahhhhh, sweet perfection!

Mother’s Day Gift for Fun in the Kitchen
I never really know what to expect from my son for Mother’s Day, but I always know it is going to be exquisitely beautiful or a whole lot of fun. Sometimes both!
Since I love to bake and make my own unique creations, he often surprises me with a new cake/cupcake pan, decorating tool, cake plate or display stand. I use these items frequently and I always think of him and his considerate ways. I remember well the first such gift and I thought to myself, “I didn’t even know he was watching and paying attention to what I was doing.”
He is grown now, but every once in a while, he still finds the time to join me for a bit of fun in the kitchen.
Now, that makes a mother’s day!

Photo for Mother’s Day Gift
The year my son graduated from high school, my children asked me what I wanted for Mother’s Day. Our daughter had already graduated from college and I knew my son would be leaving soon for college himself. My simple request was for a photo of the two of them together.
They did indeed have an 8×10 photo made of them together, selected a lovely frame for the picture and presented it to me on Mother’s Day.
That photo still graces my nightstand. Every morning I wake to their lovely faces and every night I go to sleep with a precious reminder of the two greatest gifts I have ever received.

Give a Tree for Mother’s Day
In many regions, May is an excellent month to plant a tree. I have several trees that have been given to me as gifts over the years. One of my personal favorites is my Jane Magnolia Tree. It was, in fact, given to me for Mother’s Day over 15 years ago. It blooms every spring and is a gorgeous reminder of the giver.
There are many trees that would be perfect for spring planting. I have included links to sites that show the hardiness zones to make your selection easier. Simply determine your zone and check the zone for compatibility on the tree tag or in the tree description if purchasing online. The Jane Magnolia tree featured in the photo and below has a hardiness zone for regions 5-9.
If you would like to read more about the Jane Magnolia Tree, you will find photos and information here: The Jane Magnolia Tree

Mother’s Day Gift of Flowers
Considered the Traditional Mother’s Day Gift
Flowers are always beautiful and always appreciated!
While the red rose is the traditional Mother’s Day flower of choice, I tend to send the mother’s favorite flower. My mother-in-law loves gardenias, so last year we sent her a gardenia. The gardenia we sent was an actual plant, not cut flowers. That was perfect for her since she also loves to garden a bit.
This is truly an awesome gift for Mother’s Day especially if you live out of town and cannot be with your mother on Mother’s Day.

Crystal Candelabras
Mother’s Day Gifts ~ Crystal Home Decor
Crystal decor always adds a touch of elegance to any home.
I have several crystal pieces that I adore. I love the way crystal reflects light and sometimes will even cast rainbows on the walls.
Two crystal candelabras grace my dining room table year round. They were a gift over a decade ago and I still prefer them to any other table decor.

Videos or DVD’s for Mother’s Day Gifts
The Ghost and Mrs. MuirCheck Price
I truly love my collection of videos and dvd’s!
When I don’t feel like working or reading and I just want to sit down and relax for a while, I enjoy grabbing a movie to watch.
I usually select a comedy simply because I like to laugh. Also, I feel like I get enough drama in real life.
Ironically, one of my all time favorite movies, The Ghost & Mrs. Muir, would probably be categorized as a drama or perhaps a fantasy since the leading man is a ghost.
I have written an entire article about The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. If you would like to read more about this movie, you may view it here: The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.

Mother’s Day Gift Card
It may be hard to believe, but my own mother prefers gift cards. She likes to be able to purchase things that she otherwise could not or would not purchase for herself. She also loves to eat dinner out.
Amazon.com makes gift cards really easy to purchase and send. You could either choose an Amazon gift card or you may select a department store or restaurant gift card. You even have the option of sending Mom a gift card to use toward her groceries. Personally, I would prefer the grocery gift card to the restaurant gift card. I would treat myself to steaks from the meat department and take them home to cook just the way I like them.
However, the restaurant gift cards would make my mother a very happy mother and you know what they say about when mom is happy!
They offer a variety of gifts cards from many major department stores, retail stores, chain restaurants, and even some entertainment cards from sites like Netflix. Here are just a few of the gift cards available on Amazon. For More, simply click here: Gift Cards
